22 Jun Best Rooftop Bars Around London to Soak Up the Summer Sun
As much as we love our city, we all know that sometimes London life can get a little bit crazy. Amongst all the pop up shops, the markets, the hot new restaurants and of course all the office blocks, it can be difficult to find a little escape – particularly in the Summer, when we want nothing more than to lounge in the light English sunshine. But don’t you worry – we’ve left our salon in Earls Court and scoured the suburbs and the secret hideouts all over the city to find you some of the best rooftop bars, so you can soak up those rays whilst sipping an ice cold beverage. Just relaaaaaax and take it easy – we’ve got you covered.
Central – Aqua
When you want something classy.
Aqua is definitely one of the fancier choices, but it’s beautiful nonetheless – the views are irresistible. Despite cocktails being a little pricier than average, it’s 100% worth it when you can gaze across the whole of London, under heated lamps and soft, cosy loungers with pillows galore. Aqua might not be a regular ‘after work Friday drinks’ sort of place, but it’s a dream if you pop along for a special occasion or even if you just feel like dressing up a bit and having a chilled night out in style.
East – Proof, Hackney
When you’re feeling just a little bit hipster. And want a toastie.
East London is certainly never short of things to do, including new rooftop bars opening up every Summer. You’ve got your picks of relaxed bars and hangout areas like Netil 360, Dalston Roof Park, and Boundary rooftop – all of which boast relaxing vibes, good food and of course great people. If you’re after somewhere new and exciting, Proof has just opened up in Hackney. Partnering with the street food market below, you get the best of both worlds up there. Enjoy local pale ale from Five Points Brewery or snack on a gourmet grilled cheese from the market underneath and enjoy hipsterdom at it’s very finest. Fairylights and all.
South – Queen Elizabeth Rooftop
When you want a chilled hangout with a big group.
At Vita Hair & Beauty, we seriously love Southbank in the Summer. Forget that, we love Southbank ALL the time. The rooftop of the Queen Elizabeth Hall is basically a park on a roof, which is perfect when all the London parks are crammed full of too many teenagers drinking and burning bbqs into the ground. It definitely gets busy here, but luckily there’s a cap on crowds to stop it from getting too crazy. Although you won’t find full on meals here, there’s a little snack and drink shack which is perfect to keep you refreshed during a daytime sunbathing session. Oh, and those views. We swear we can see all the way to Earls Court.
North – Big Chill House Rooftop Bar
When you want buzzy bar vibes and DJs to dance to.
One of the things that we love most about Big Chill House Rooftop is that it’s just so damn adorable. Look at all that pink, all the orange. It’s like all our Summer wishes in a nutshell. Situated in the very accessible Kings Cross (yes, even from Earls Court), you can cosy up on this beautifully decorated rooftop and enjoy a huge range of Craft Beers, Artisan burgers (that’s a thing, we promise) and even brunch from the restaurant below. Oh, and on Sundays you can get 2 hours of BOTTOMLESS Mimosas or Bloody Mary’s for £15. Just throwing that out there… DJs are on until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays, so you can party under the stars all night long.
West – Lyric, Hammersmith
When you want to soak up some culture.
Although Lyric Hammersmith is actually a theatre and community hub, during the warmer months the rooftop garden is open and is the perfect place for alfresco dining or a quick after work drink (or two). You can grab snacks and nibbles from the delicious Peyton & Byrne who have a very varied but outstanding menu, and sip on an ice cold margarita while you’re at it. Mmmmmm. The views of Hammersmith may not be the best you’ll ever see, but at least you can pop along and visit us at Vita Hair & Beauty in Earls Court while you’re out West ;)
